Colin Cartwright a étudié le piano et le chant au Royal Northern College of Music au début des années soixante-dix. Il y a rencontré et épousé sa femme, Anne, qui était étudiante à l'opéra. Il a dirigé une chorale de filles primée (la chorale de l'école Brigidine, Windsor) qui s'est produite dans toute l'Europe.
Colin Cartwright studied piano and singing at the Royal Northern College of Music in the early seventies. There he met and married his wife, Anne, who was an opera student. Following graduation, Colin was appointed as a member of the Choir of the Royal Chapel of St. George at Windsor Castle, where he and Anne lived in a house within the castle walls. Anne expanded her career as a soloist in both opera and concert work whilst Colin became immersed in the English choral tradition, as well as teaching. He sang daily in the Royal Chapel and made many recordings with the Chapel Choir. He conducted an award-winning girls' choir (the choir of the Brigidine School, Windsor) which performed all over Europe.

Highlights of Colin's career include recording an impressive collection of British and European choral works, singing in venues like St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abby, and the Royal Albert Hall. He toured the United States, singing at a memorial concert for the victims of 9/11. He sang at Queen Elizabeth's 70th birthday celebration and at the wedding of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. (A piece of the Royal Wedding Cake sits in a decorative container on his piano!)
En 2006, après trente ans à Saint-Georges, Colin et Anne ont pris leur retraite et se sont installés dans le Limousin près de Rochechouart - en théorie pour prendre leur retraite. Colin a apporté en France tous ses talents et son immense richesse d'expérience. Son plus grand désir est de faire partager la pratique de la musique au plus grand nombre dans son nouveau pays de résidence tant aimé.
In 2006, after thirty years at St George's, Colin and Anne retired and moved to the Limousin close to Rochechouart, bringing all his talents and immense wealth of experience to France. In addition to founding Cantique, Colin can now devote more time to composing choral music. His greatest desire is to share music-making with as many people as possible in his much-loved new country of residence.
